SmugMug's mantra for our help desk was shamelessly stolen from Mark Twain, who wrote: "Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest."
We do our best to astonish our customers by answering help email in minutes.
We do it by hiring people who know and love SmugMug and its customers. They work full or part-time, from their homes in their jammies.
Ivar, for example, works from Utrecht in the Netherlands. His specialty is helping customize. Barb Gates from Boise, Idaho, has the digital photography fever and came to us by way of our community.
Ivar and Barb are customers who have the passion. They both work (play?) from their homes, to the delight of many SmugMug customers who receive quick, friendly and knowledgeable advice from them.
The main job requirements are a friendly and helpful attitude. Our support ranges from responding to "Ack! I typed in the wrong zip code on my order!" to "I need help getting proper skin tones on my prints."
No one at SmugMug knows all the answers. We learn from each other and work together on the help desk, each person taking Qs they feel comfortable with. So a willingness to learn and work with others is key.
Our customers come from every walk of life. What binds them is their passion for life's memories.

CSS Zen Master
Have you reached stylesheet Nirvana? Are you the designer people go to for a fresh, clean, gorgeous look?
SmugMug is looking for a CSS expert to create SmugMug Themes on a full-time basis. We want art gallery-type designs in many styles - ranging from elegant to festive, seasonal, sports and holidays.
You will come up with design concepts on your own or together with a team artist, and then put them together in a CSS theme for use on our site. Experience with photography sites is a plus.
Requirements:
- Have mad CSS skillz
- Create illustrations, icons, visual elements in PS or AI
- Know cross browser/platform compatibility requirements cold
- Understand typography and how it relates to the design
- Be self-motivated and driven, have a track record of meeting deadlines with quality results
- Ready to be a Super Hero!
